We awoke this morning here, still sailing south through the Tromsøysundet Strait to Tromsø, located on the island of Tromsøya, just off the mainland of northern Norway. Though we had come south from North Cape at 71°N latitude, at around 69°N now, we were still above the Arctic Circle.

We weren't due to dock until about 9:00, so we headed up to the World Fresh Marketplace on Deck 16 for breakfast. I had my typical fare, this morning adding a little corned beef hash to my plate. Unfortunately, it wasn't very good.

Around 8:15, a bit earlier than expected, with the Captain and his crew on the bridge extension gingerly guiding the ship alongside the pier, I watched from our balcony as we slowly docked in Tromsø.

By 9:30, we were on our bus and headed to see some of Tromsø and the surrounding area. Click here to see some pictures from our Tromsø shore excursion.

Back in our room, we found this, a small but nice gesture of appreciation from the "Sky Princess Team."

Before leaving Tromsø this evening, Teresa captured this picture of the Grønnåsen Ski Jump Center (Grønnåsen Hoppsenter) from the ship, not very busy this time of year.

By 6:00, sitting on our balcony, I watched this guy as we sailed away from Tromsø.

Around 6:30, we stopped up at the buffet for dinner. I just had this and a little Caesar Salad. Then, just wanting to eat a light dinner, leaving the others there to eat to their heart's content, I went outside to take some more pictures of us sailing away from Tromsø. When I got back, Mei-O tempted me with some prime rib, so I got some for myself. Then I finished with a great chocolate chunk cookie and a piece of cheesecake. So much for a light dinner.

Tonight's Showtime performance, entitled "From Me To Freddie" featured Hannah Stearne, a singer from the UK who, with great backing by the Sky Princess Band, performed a tribute concert to Freddie Mercury and Queen. She was really good, doing a lot of the songs that many of us (those who knew of Freddie and Queen) knew and loved. It was one of the better Showtime concerts of the cruise.
