Looking out from our balcony around 7:00 AM, having just come through a series of fjords earlier this morning, we were close to land, though not yet close to Trondheim, since we weren't scheduled to arrive until 9:00. We still had some sailing to do.

By 8:15, Trondheim was in sight. It looked pretty interesting from afar. "Velkommen til Trondheim!"

And once again, before we got off the ship to explore Trondheim on our own, I had my lox, red onion, and tomato on a roll sandwich, with some smoked fish and a little scrambled egg for breakfast.

As we prepared to exit the ship, the weather looked promising, but...

...by the time we got down on the pier, a light rain was falling. Good thing we had our new jackets!

Oops, Mei-O had forgotten something on the ship, so she went back to get it while I waited in a little shelter the cruise line had set up. It was open, and I was getting rained on. But it was light, and by the time Mei-O got back, it had pretty much slowed down, allowing us to begin our exploration of the city in a light rain.

Doing Trondheim on our own, we needed to find out which way to go. (See me taking a selfie of us with our ship in the background?) We were hoping to find several of the popular places mentioned on this sign: Torget, Nidarosdomen, and Gamle bybru, among other sights. Click here to see some pictures of our walk around Trondheim.

After dropping our wet coats and backpacks off in our rooms and getting freshened up a bit, we headed upstairs to the buffet for some lunch. It was around 3:00, and we were all hungry! We had seen tonight's formal dinner menu, and it looked good, so we planned to first go to the 8:00 show, then have a late dinner in the Estrella Dining Room, so we'd eat light now.

Back in our room about 4:00, I watched as we sailed away from Trondheim...while Mei-O conked out! We had done a lot of walking today.
