Around 3:30, we sailed away from Skjolden, heading out through the Sognefjord fjord back to sea. This time, we'd be able to see the opposite shore from our balcony. We'll see if it's any more dramatic than when we sailed in.

And it really wasn't. It was pretty and smooth and relaxing, but as far as fjords go, there was nothing special about it. At one point, I captured this ferry leaving (1:32), and we occasionally passed a small village along the shore, and basically, just a lot of this. So we decided to give up fjord-watching and take a walk around the ship. Mei-O had something in mind....

Shopping! We didn't pack the right outerwear. After our cold and rainy windy day in Skjolden, we decided we needed jackets that would work if we encountered that kind of weather again. And, heading farther north every day, we expected we would. We had a lot of free money from Princess Cruise Lines. Each of us got a $50 ship credit (I'm not sure why), and I got a $250 veteran's credit, for a total of $350. And it was non-refundable, meaning we had to spend it on something. With all this in mind, we went jacket shopping.

And here's what we ended up buying, the one on the left for me and the other for Mei-O. They were perfect, good for the rain with hoods, and just the right weight for the weather we were expecting. At $80 each, they were a bit expensive, but, then again, using our ship credit, they were free.

We returned to our room just as we were passing this waterfall (0:31), donned our jackets, and ventured out on to the balcony to watch the fjord go by.

Then, at 7:30, we were in the Princess Theater waiting to see tonight's show, "Dolcevita in Rock" featuring Marco Pastorino, a singer billed as an "Italian rock tenor. This singing multi-instrumentalist pays tribute to the greatest selling artists, showcasing his versatility and musicality whilst celebrating proudly his Italian heritage". As with most of the other Showtime acts, as I write this a month after seeing the show, I can't remember if he was good and whether or not we enjoyed his performance.

After the show, we returned to the Fresh Market Place buffet to have a late snack. I just had a bunch of meat stuff (but not too much) to supplement my hamburger and fries lunch.

While the others sat and talked and ate a little more than I did, I retreated to the rear of the ship to watch the final few miles of us sailing out of the fjord back into the Norwegian Sea, taking this rather long but quite peaceful video (3:07, taken around 10:30 at night). Eventually, back in our room on our balcony, Mei-O captured the waning minutes of this great day in the mountains around Skjolden and sailing through the Sognefjord fjord. Tomorrow morning, we'd be sailing up the Nordfjorden fjord on our way to dock in Olden.
