Leaving the castle grounds, we continued on the road that led from the esplanade back down the hill below the castle to the city.

And we weren't done yet. Because we were all tired after walking around the castle and knowing I was such a slow walker, we came down slowly and early so we wouldn't be late for the bus. But we came down a little too early, and had to pass some time by walking around this quiet section of Edinburgh below the castle on a slow Sunday afternoon. Steve and Teresa, being a little more energetic than Mei-O and me, took a longer walk all the way around the block before...

...around 4:45, we all finally made our way to the bus parking area. (Ours is the white bus in front of the blue one.) We settled in, now looking forward to a relaxing ride through the city back to South Queensferry to catch a tender back to the Sky Princess. (The last tender back to the ship would leave at 6:00 PM; the half hour ride to the South Queensferry pier would get us there with plenty of time to spare.)

As I was reviewing my pictures while creating this web page, I was surprised by how few pictures I took from the bus on the way back (only five. Here's a great one Teresa took.) I guess I was really tired. I suppose I may have even dozed off a bit....

When we arrived at the South Queensferry pier, there was a tender waiting for us. Well, not just for us. As the day was winding down and many people, not just those of us on our bus, would also be making their way back to the ship, the tender was going to wait until it was nearly filled up. So we took our seats and ended up having a long wait as people dribbled in a few at a time.

Whenever we'd return to the ship after some time ashore, we'd always first go to our staterooms and drop off our backpacks, coats, and anything else we no longer had a need for, get cleaned up a bit, and then head up to the Fresh Market Place on Deck 16 to eat. And that's what we did this afternoon, not even checking the formal dining room menu. I started my dinner with a salad and some seafood, then followed it with some roast beef, salmon, and mashed potatoes (purposely limiting the amount of food I took so I could try to make sure I wouldn't gain too much weight). I finished dinner with this dessert, then sat back and watched while the others came back with plate after plate after plate....

Tonight's Showtime show featured these two guys, "Twins Trip", a circus act-like show that none of us were really excited about seeing - so we didn't. Instead, we went back to our staterooms to sit on our balcony and watch as we sailed away from Scotland after our short stay there. While it was still light at 9:00, we were ready to call it a day and get some sleep. Tomorrow would be a day at sea as we headed to Skjolden, Norway.
