![]() June 14, during our journey, we saw wind farms like these way out in the ocean quite often. |

![]() As we passed the Piazza, this young woman, Eilish Hassett, was performing an acoustic guitar set. She was with us the whole cruise; I often saw her performing in various venues around the ship. It seems like a pretty good gig. |
![]() At 1:00, there was a dance class on the Piazza, followed by a cha cha dance class at 2:00. Mei-O and Teresa missed both of them today; we just hadn't checked the daily schedule, and they weren't quite prepared to just pop in and start dancing. They'd be back on upcoming days. |
![]() After a while of walking around and exploring the ship, we ended up on our balcony to relax for a while. Looking out over the vast sea, I was quite surprised to see this (0:21). I couldn't help wondering "How did they build this?" and "Where is it connected to?" |
![]() Just before 3:00, as I perused our Princess Patter, the newsletter we'd get each evening with notes about the upcoming day's port and the events that would be going on on the ship that day, I noticed a 3:00 "Veterans and Military Personnel Get Together" which would be quickly coming up. We headed over to the venue to check it out; Norwegian Cruise Lines had a great event like this during our Hawaiian cruise last March, so our hopes were high. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a bummer, just a bunch of old guys, maybe 10 or 12, and one woman, from various countries and branches of service talking about their war days. One guy monopolized the conversation talking on and on about his grandfather's and uncle's experiences in WWI, making us really want to get out of there. So as soon as one guy stood up saying he had to leave, we joined him. This meet and greet was to be held every sea day at 3:00. We didn't go back, and I have to wonder if anyone else did. |
![]() Leaving the meet and greet, there was a putting contest going on on the Piazza. There were so many people wanting to participate in these competitions, it was nearly impossible to enter. |
![]() We arrived early in the Princess Theater to get good seats for tonight's 5:00 show, "Rock Opera", an elaborate production performed by the Sky Princess's own troupe of very talented singers and dancers. There would be two more production shows like this, and the high quality of the band, singers and dancers, lighting and special effects, and just everything about it, really psyched us up for more. |
![]() Tonight was the first of three formal nights which meant we'd get dressed in our "formal wear" for dinner. Steve and I just brought ties (no jackets, and I had some pants other than blue jeans!), while Teresa and Mei-O were a little fancier. There were two more formal nights, but we didn't notice which days they were, and more or less missed them - not really missing anything. (We only guessed at them when we saw men walking around the ship in tuxedos and women dressed in their fancy formal wear.) |
![]() Here's the menu for tonight's formal dinner. I had the beef tenderloin (pictured above) while Mei-O had the Duck à l'Orange with potato croquettes, both pretty good. We also shared a bowl of French onion soup and a Lump Crab Cake. Sharing was a good way to try all this good stuff but not overeat. For dessert, well, we were all intrigued by the "Princess Love Boat Dream"note layers of chocolate-raspberry mousse and vanilla-raspberry cream on a shortbread cookie base" Next Top |
