As we walked around the ship checking out our new home for the next two weeks, we came across tonight's formal dinner menu that's posted in several places around the ship. (Here's a more readable version.) We all decided that this first night we'd try it, so around 5:30, we headed to the Estrella Dining Room where no reservations were required. We didn't eat here often, preferring to have most of our dinners in the World Fresh Marketplace buffet up on Deck 16note, but when we did, we'd almost always be able to get right in with just a very minimal a wait.

So you can get an idea of what a somewhat typical formal dinner was like, here are some pictures of tonight's meal. I began with a Caesar Salad (as I did every night we ate here), then Mei-O and I shared a bowl of very yummy French Onion Soup, full of bread and onions and topped with plenty of cheese! Mei-O had the Seared Salmon entrée, and I had the Ale-Braised Short Ribs which were both really good. For dessert, Mei-O had the New York Cheesecake with a scoop of chocolate ice cream (you could add ice cream to any dessert), and I had a simple "Create your own Sundae" with chocolate ice cream and pineapple and strawberry toppings. This was the kind of dinner I was hoping we'd have on upcoming nights.

Every night at 8:00, a show featuring various types of acts would be presented in the 922-seat Princess Theater. Introduced every night by our very cool Cruise Director, Dan Looney, the theater filled up quickly (the ship carried approximately 3,600 passengers. The small theater wasn't adequate), and we found ourselves having to come earlier and earlier, eventually showing up at 7:20 to get a good seat. Mei-O likes to joke about how tonight's act, The Voice Boys, really should be called the Voice Men, since they were hardly boys. I can't remember if they were enjoyable or not, but I have to mention that the Sky Princess Band who backed many of the acts was just fantastic!

Many nights after the show, we made our way up to the World Fresh Marketplace for more food. I was pretty good at not joining in, at least after tonight. Lobster rolls were on the menu, and I just couldn't pass up having one two! In fact, other than lobster bisque being served one day, this was the only time we saw lobster on the ship. And then I had this. I was treading in dangerous waters.

These were the last pictures I took tonight. We headed back to our stateroom and were off to bed, still quite tired from the lack of sleep due to the long flights, time-zone changes, and just not getting enough rest. Tomorrow would be a sea day, so that would give us an opportunity to relax.
