...lunch in the Aloha Cafe. As I mentioned before, I was very lax taking our meal pictures. This and a couple of desserts are the only pictures of our lunch today. Their hamburgers and their potato salad were both really good,

Mei-O wanted to take a shower, and her showers usually take at least an hour (including washing and drying her hair), so I decided to take a walk around the ship docked in Hilo and take some pictures. Click here to see some of what I saw.

When I got back to our room a little before 5:00, I remembered that I was invited to a reception for U.S. military veterans today at 5:00! We quickly got ready, then headed down to the Mardi Gras Lounge on Deck 6 to join other veterans already there. After listening to several speakers associated with NCL's veterans' program thank us all for our service and tell us how glad they were to have us aboard, we all assembled for a group picture. When the formalities were over, Mei-O and I got to pose for one of the ship's professional photographers for our own personal photographnoteMost of the other attendees
already had their pictures
taken before the speeches
began. Since we came late,
we had to wait until the
formalities were over to
get ours taken.
. On the last day of our cruise, the official group photo and our personal photo were delivered to us in our room. We left the reception early to meet our fellow travelers in the Liberty Dining Room for dinner.

On the way to dinner, I took a few pictures as we walked through the ship. Art auctions are a big deal on cruise ships, and our ship was no different. We passed the art studio with a lot of pictures on display and some sculptures and ceramics, all going up for auction (these were part of a silent auction) on a future day. We continued on, passing the Chapel and the Library.

The Veterans' Reception was at the front of the ship, while the Liberty Dining Room was aft, so we kept on going past a now-silent Pink's Champagne Bar, past the stairway that we didn't need to take anywhere (our entire walk was on Deck 6 which is where the Liberty Dining Room is), continuing on past the Napa Wine Bar (bars and drinking are a big part of cruising for many people - and for the cruise company), until somehow we ended up down on Deck 5 mid-ship where the Guest Services Desk is and where we ran into Emily, who we stopped to talk to for a whilenoteSince we met Emily, we want-
ed to get a picture with her.
It's possible we went down to
Deck 5 to see if she was on
duty and available to take a
picture with us before we con-
tinued on to dinner. She was,
but no one was there to take
our picture, and we were short
on time, having to meet our
friends for dinner, so we had
had to wait for another time.
.

After talking with Emily for just a short while, we arrived at the Liberty Dining Room right on time, right at 5:45 to meet the others for dinner. Here's our menu for this evening's formal dinner (and here's the readable version.)

We had a great waitress, Ritchell, originally from the Philippines, now living in Guam. As she went around the table taking our orders, I tried to get a picture of her. We really liked her and tried to get her each night (with some degree of success.) For tonight's dinner, I began with my regular Caesar Salad, while Mei-O started out with Shanghai Pork Pot Stickers. Then I had one of the few meat entrees I had this trip, Hawaiian Pork Belly (it was very dry and had a lot of fat on it, but I still liked it), while Mei-O had the Breaded Flounder Fillet. Finally, for dessert I had a Cannoli and Mei-O had a Seasonal Fresh Fruit Plate. It was another okay dinner.

After dinner, which we ate while sailing on a somewhat rough ocean and rocking ship, Mei-O wasn't feeling too well, so we went out on deck to see if some fresh air might help. It didn't, so...

...we returned to our cabin to just take it easy the rest of the night and go to bed early. From bed, I tried watching some TV on the tiny TV in our room, but that, believe it or not, was exhausting. That was all for today. Tomorrow we'd be in Kona, Hawaii.
