Around 6:30, as we got off the elevator on the 11th floor on our way to the Aloha Cafe for breakfast, we passed by this ping pong table which just called out to us. We played for about 15-20 minutes, then...

...headed into the Aloha Cafe to eat breakfast. Typically, my breakfast consisted of a custom-made omelet with ham, chopped red peppers, mushrooms, chopped white onions, tomatoes, spinach, and cheese. With the omelet, I also had sausage, bacon, whole milk, and, one of my favorite breakfast items that I never eat at home, creamed sausage on a biscuit. (Actually, I never eat sausage and very seldom eat bacon at home.) Not much healthy here, but it was all so yummy; I pretty much had the same thing every day. On the contrary, this was typically what Mei-O had for breakfast (although the hash browns were pretty bad and she never had them again.)

It was around 7:00 after breakfast when I went outside to catch a picture of the sunrise. I watched it for a while, then, before I knew it, I noticed we were headed into the port at Kahului on the island of Maui, our next stop. We were scheduled to arrive at 8:00 AM, and we were right on time.

And right at 8:00, Mei-O and I and Teresa and Steve were in line to get off the ship to meet up with our tour bus driver for an 8-hour shore excursion called "Road to Hana Day Trip." We'd take Highway 36 to Hana on Maui's eastern tip along the north shore, stopping at points of interest along the way, then return to the ship (I'm not sure if we took the same road back or not.)

We left the ship, stopped for a quick picture with our ship in the background, then boarded the van (with 6 other people. Alay and Alfred and Maria and Grace didn't sign up for the excursion) and set off for our day's tour with our driver/tour guide Thomas leading the way. Click here to see our Road to Hana pictures.

After going back to our respective staterooms and getting cleaned up, it was time for tonight's formal dinner. (Here's a more readable version of the menu.) I had the Creamy New England Clam Chowder and a Caesar Salad (with anchovies!) for appetizers (Mei-O had the Cobb Salad), and we both had the Broiled Boston Bluefish. For dessert, we both had Warm Apple Strudel. It was all pretty good.

At 7:30, we were in the crowded Hollywood Theater to watch "Aloha Polynesia," a song and dance show. It was billed as "Celebrate the spirit of Aloha as we take you on a spectacular ride to Tahiti (0:15), New Zealand (0:19), Samoa (0:27), Tonga, and the islands of Hawaii (0:37) with our production cast. This Ohana (family) comes on board from the local islandsnoteWe didn't know it at the
time, but his would be
the only show by these
performers during the
entire cruise. They were
not actually a produc-
tion cast based on the
ship to perform nightly
shows like on every
other ship we've been on.
to bring you this amazing show featuring the cultural music and dances of Polynesia." (I don't know why I didn't get a video of the Tonga dancers.) Here's one more from New Zealand (0:22), reminiscent of Mei-O and Teresa dancing with the Maori dancers when we were there last year. And here's the band that provided all the different music. Here are a few more pictures from the show and one more video of these Samoan "slap dancers" (0:15). This was an exciting, fun show; it's too bad there were no more like it.

These were the last pictures I have from this second day of our cruise. After the show, we were off to bed and would awaken tomorrow morning still docked in Kahului, Maui.
