...it was time for another formal dinner in the Symphony Dining Room, and, tonight being formal night (the first of two), we were dressed for it.

Tonight's dinner was pretty good. We started out with a few good appetizers (I'm not sure what these were), then I had my favorite Caesar salad (with anchovies, of course), and a bowl of really good French onion soup, followed by Duck à l'Orange for my main course. Mei-O had a garden salad (which wasn't on the menu, but if you asked for one, which she often did, they'd accommodate you, though it wasn't the same each time), then the Prosciutto-wrapped Orange Roughy for her main course. And our desserts were pretty yummy too.

Formal night is not like it used to be. Sure, there were plenty of men in tuxes and women in fancy gowns, but for us it basically meant, for me, a tie and something other than blue jeans (no jacket), and for Mei-O, well, you can see her "formal" attire in the pictures. (It was all about traveling light and not having to pack a lot of extra stuff.) We tried several poses on and near the main staircase as Teresa took these pictures for us: like this, seated near the staircase, and like this.

So what's going on here? Once we were done taking formal photos (we took a bunch of Steve and Teresa too), it was time to head up to the Horizon Bistro for some post-dinner/before-bed "treats", usually fruit for Mei-O and Teresa, something more substantial for Steve, and usually nothing for me. In order to get into the buffet, you had to wash your hands for "20 seconds" at one of these hand washing stations, two of which were at both entrances to the buffet. (A ship staff member was stationed there at all times to monitor the hand washing.)

This green melon was pretty much the most common fruit that was offered, day after day, night after night. Cantaloupe, another white melon, and watermelon were also on the menu sometimes, but it seems, like tonight, that this one was the melon of choice for Mei-O. She had a few slices, along with some watermelon, then back to our room and off to bed we went. Tomorrow we'd be arriving in Melbourne.
