![]() This is an appropriate way (0:34) to start today, another day at sea as we now left Dunedin and headed up the east coast of the South Island to Wellington, the nation's capital, on the southern tip of the North Island. |
![]() My first breakfast plate this morning. I tried the bacon before and it was pretty bad, but I thought I'd give it a second chance. It was edible. I also like creamed beef on a biscuit, and it was really good, as were the hash browns. Here's Mei-O's plate. What a combination: hot cereal, tomatoes, mushrooms, baked beans, and a hard-boiled egg. Then, apparently missing my regular breakfast, I had this (made into a sandwich, of course), a good start to the day. |
![]() And Steve and Mei-O got their day off to a good start with some early morning pickleball. While they played, Teresa was doing her daily walk around the track on Deck 18. |
![]() As I did on several days, I took a picture of today's event listings so I could see if anything interesting was going on. I saw this, and decided to check it out. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a very good "seat", and with the echo in the hall (and their accents), they were hard to understand, so I didn't stick around too long. |
![]() Keeping with my horrible food picture-taking abilities this trip, here's the only picture I have from lunch today. (Other than the salmon, I'm not even sure what the other stuff is.) At least this picture can act as a placeholder to show that we had lunch today. |
![]() I managed to see the dinner menu for tonight, and the "Pork Belly & Garlic Mash" caught my eye. Pork belly is one of Steve's favorite things to eat, so I was pretty sure we'd be eating in the Symphony Dining Room tonight. (I like it too when it's not real fatty, which it usually is.) Also on the menu: a vegetarian ragout (stew), salmon, Cornish hen, and lamb stew. |
![]() Selling art is a big thing on cruise ships. During the cruise, they have several art auctions and I assume people buy stuff, otherwise it wouldn't be there. So walking by the art gallery this afternoon, I took a few pictures of the art on display. Never been to an art auction. It might be fun to attend one this cruise. (But I didn't.) |
![]() We ran into this dance contest (0:26) on the Piazza this afternoon. We knew two of the contestants, two sisters who were on a couple of excursions with us and who weren't dancing as partners (you had to partner with someone you didn't know), so we stayed to watch for quite a while. Our choice, one of the sisters (in black) and her partner, were seemingly the best, but unfortunately, they got eliminated near the end. While we were up above watching, the busy and colorful background was ideal for this! |
![]() At dinner tonight, Mei-O had another garden salad (different every time), and I had my regular every-night Caesar salad, tonight with no anchovies. (I'm not sure why.) We both had the pork belly with chili beans, pear compote, and red wine gravy; mine was okay, but |
![]() After dinner, we made our way down to the Princess Theater for tonight's show: "Buddy is Back with Scot Robin", a Buddy Holly impersonator. Backed by the Princess house band, he was really good, putting on quite an entertaining show. |
![]() After the show, as we headed back to our rooms, we passed this display of really well-done towel animals. Usually on cruises, most evenings when you'd return to your room to retire for the night, you'd find one on your bed. We got none this cruise. Nevertheless, we got to our towel-animalless room and turned in for the night. Tomorrow we'd be spending in Wellington. Next Top |
