![]() This sunrise picture is timestamped 4:53 AM. I had a terrible time sleeping, probably a mixture of jet-lag and the extremely soft bed that we had. The lack of sleep would plague me the whole trip. Mei-O captured a much better sunrise picture a little later. |
![]() It looked like a beautiful day would be ahead of us. This was one of my favorite angles to take pictures from our balcony. |
![]() Most days, around 8:00, we'd ride up to Deck 16's Horizon Bistro for a good breakfast. This is mine most days. Smoked salmon was on all of the buffet lines, and, despite there being no bagels, along with raw onion and cream cheese, the little rolls they served worked. The rolls were small, so today I took two, but from this morning on, one was enough. I often had some scrambled eggs with it. I tried the sausage and bacon and both were horrible. Small glasses of orange juice were what I usually had to drink. |
![]() There were no kiwi on any of the buffet lines. Teresa was surprised, seeing we were on a cruise in a part of the world so well known for kiwi, so she asked one of the food workers about it, and they brought her some from the kitchen which she shared with Mei-O. She and Mei-O did that just a few more times during the cruise. Oh, and of course, there was that always-present green melon that was served every day. (I think the women got really sick of it by the time the cruise was over.) |
![]() After breakfast, Mei-O and I explored the ship a bit, stopping to take a selfie on the empty staircase, one of the prettiest places for pictures on the ship (when they weren't full of people). Mei-O found this small informal taiji session in a little corner and joined in for a while while I watched. |
![]() The Piazza, mid-ship on Deck 5, was where so many of the ship's activities were held. Around 10:00, as we came upon it from the deck above, this (0:37) was going on. It was a line dancing session that Mei-O wanted to join, but because it was so crowded, she (along with Teresa who showed up there) joined some others on Deck 6 and danced from above (0:57) for a little over a half hour. They would do this on many sea days. |
![]() After line dancing, Mei-O and I walked around, continuing to explore the ship, just taking a few pictures. Unfortunately for me, and this was true for most of the cruise, the temperature for most of the days was in the upper 60s, lower 70s maybe, and the wind while at sea was fierce, so Mei-O (and Steve and Teresa) didn't especially like going outside so we pretty much stayed inside. Eventually, we went back to our room to relax a bit, until... |
![]() ...around 1:00, when we had a quick lunch in the Horizon Bistro. But these are the only two pictures I have of it. I must not have been in the picture taking mood, or maybe I was just really hungry.... |
![]() We did a little more exploring this afternoon, watching this band perform on the Piazza and whatever this was. I'm not sure where the time went this first day, but I didn't take any more pictures until... Next Top |
