![]() We woke up this morning docking in Port Chalmers, the port that serves Dunedin |
![]() We had fairly typical breakfasts this morning, then... |
![]() ...checked out the port where we were docking, this church on the hill, and other things we could see from the ship, and even watched a while as this Norwegian Cruise Lines cruise ship docked opposite us. |
![]() About 8:45, we all went down to the terminal to await our "Book A Tour" tour guide and get on the bus that would take us to Dunedin. While waiting, everyone realized there was free wi-fi in the terminal, so,they all got on their phones to check their mail, etc. |
![]() By 9:20, we were on the bus, ready to go as soon as everyone who signed up for the tour was on board (they all weren't.) We also had to wait when the owner of the tour company showed up to settle a payment issue, but eventually, everything got fixed, and off we went. As we were headed to Dunedin, our tour guide passed out this menu so we could decide what we wanted for lunch and he could call it in to the Ironic Cafe. |
![]() By 10:20, we were in Dunedin, stopping at Baldwin St., the steepest street |
![]() We stopped at this monument on Dunedin's Signal Hill Lookout where we got a pretty good view of the city down below. The monument includes two large bronze figures representing "History" and "The Thread of Life" (I'm not sure which this is). This plaque is on one side of the monument. Anyhow, we stayed a while and took some pictures, then continued on. We were headed for lunch. |
![]() Here are a bunch of pictures as we drove through Dunedin on our way to lunch at... |
![]() ...the Ironic Cafe & Bar. We ordered (earlier on the bus) fish and chips and seafood chowder which we'd share, and they were both super-delicious, especially the "chips"! The meal came with a drink; we all chose orange juice. |
![]() The restaurant had a theme. On the back wall was a big picture of Frida Kahlo (which I failed to get a picture of), and the waitresses all wore these shirts. It turns out (I asked the waitress) that the owner was a big fan and wanted to promote her through her restaurant. The "Evoke Espresso" on her shirt refers to the brand of coffee they sell there.
