![]() After we finished lunch, we left the Opera House and walked up the hill to the Big Bus bus stop. I was very tired and achy, so Mei-O and I waited there while Teresa and Steve walked up the road a bit to check out the Botanic Gardens of Sydney (which turned out to be quite uninteresting). As we sat there, I watched many people walk into this little convenience store directly across the street and walk out with an ice cream cone, and watched this ibis picking at the garbage. |
![]() We continued to wait for Teresa and Steve to return to the bus stop, but eventually took a very short walk where we got a good view of these cool buildings and these birds in a park. Then we went back to sit on the bench near the bus stop to wait... |
![]() ...and watch this limo pass by, and this guy, and then these guys! Ooops, Teresa and Steve still weren't back, so we missed this bus and had to wait for the next one. (They run about every half hour.) Oh, well. Shortly after the bus pulled away, Teresa and Steve returned. |
![]() But within 10 minutes, another bus showed up, and we were off again. As we headed towards our next destination, we passed this big demonstration. (It looks like the police use horses in Sydney.) There was a speaker delivering a passionate speech, but we couldn't make out what it was all about. (I saw one Palestinian flag, so....) |
![]() So we continued on, spotting this above us along the way, eventually getting off at the King Street Wharf where we would soon catch our Captain Cook Cruises' dinner cruise. |
![]() We had a pretty good table, not by a window, but close enough for a good view as we proceeded around the Darling Harbor (1:05). The menu was limited, but everything we got (we all got the barramundi) was really good! |
![]() With dinner over, we were able to go out onto the windy deck to get some really great views of Sydney. |
![]() As we approached the Harbor Bridge, I noticed something strange. There were people walking over the bridge on the top arch! You can book a tour to climb the bridge (tour prices are between US$228 and US$274) and walk across it way up there. Yikes! Definitely not for me. |
![]() When the dinner cruise was over, as we walked along the wharf to find a good place to get an Uber back to the hotel (the Big Buses quit running around 5:00), we passed another dinner cruise, more interesting than ours, no doubt, getting ready to go. Eventually, we found a good spot away from the crowd, but, due to the traffic congestion, it took us a while, walking back and forth trying to find our driver, having to cancel one request, finally connecting with a driver who could take us home. |
![]() Back at the hotel, I noticed a big party going on on the roof of the Strand Hotel across the street (it was a Saturday night). That, along with this picture of my severely sunburned face and head, were the only pictures I took before going to bed after a long day. The skin on my forehead peeled off little by little for the next many days, and from today on, I began putting on sunscreen. Tomorrow would be our last day in Sydney. We'd be boarding our ship in the afternoon to begin our cruise. Next Top |
