I got us a Lyft. Our driver, Huihui, picked us up at the airport in an Audi Q7 and drove us, unfortunately, during busy rush hour traffic, to the hotel 10 miles to the southeast in Waikiki. Due to the heavy traffic, it was a long drive time-wise (about 45 minutes); as you can see, it started out in daylight and ended up in darkness. The ride ended up costing us $66.38 which, of course, we split between the two families.

When we finally checked in to the Vive Hotel Waikiki, we each got a complementary fruit drink (pineapple-mango?, pineapple-papaya?, something like that) and an orchid, which...

...once we got in our small but clean and comfortable 7th floor room (with not a bad view), we put on!

By 8:00, we were out on the street looking for a place to eat dinner. As we walked towards Waikiki Beach, we ran into a block or two of outdoor food stands like this. Perusing the menu on the front of the "Blue Ocean" diner (here's just a small part of it!), we all settled on...

...this salmon and mahi-mahi combination plate with salad, rice, and a roll for right around $20 (the bill totaled $43.24 with tax.) Each piece of fish was huge - we probably should have just ordered one and shared it - and both were quite good. And here's Teresa's mahi-mahi and shrimp dinner, very generous portions and very good also. We had a really satisfying dinner!

After dinner, we continued our walk towards Waikiki Beach, stopping by this tropical drink stand for a nice after dinner fruit drink, a yummy concoction of sugar cane, mango, and pineapple.

As we walked to Waikiki Beach, there were a lot of people were out on the street on this beautiful night, but only a few were actually at the beach. So we took some time and hung around to check out this statuenote adorned with orchid leis, and this awesome banyan tree. We'd be back tomorrow morning when the daylight revealed more of Waikiki Beach's magic. For now, we headed back to the hotel, and drifted off to sleep, ending a long day.
