June 21, drying fish on the pier in Honningsvåg. People in Norway use all parts of the fish; you can see some fish heads drying here.

June 21, leaving Deck 16 returning to our room, I got my courage up to try to walk along this glass walkway. To those of you who don't know, I have a great fear of heights, and just standing on this thing wasn't easy for me. I didn't get very far.

The chandelier in the Piazza. Mid-ship Deck 5, the Piazza served as an event space for numerous contests, band and solo singers' performances, dance classes, and, in general, a meeting place for friends and fellow passengers. The Customer Service and Shore Excursion Desks were nearby.

June 22, upon disembarking in Tromsø, we saw this sign which looked interesting to me. It reads:

Save the Children

DID YOU KNOW THAT:
You can volunteer
with children in Tromsø?

We didn't see a lot of food carving during this cruise, at least not as much as we'd seen on other cruises, but this one was pretty cool.

June 24, what's this? We found out on our Hawaii cruise earlier this year that some cruisers bring rubber duckies along and hide them around the ship. I found this one on our Hawaiian cruise, and this time, as we were walking around the ship this morning, Mei-O found this one (above), both of them "hiding" on a stairway railing. Notice the Instagram hashtag - #cruisingducks. There are quite a few on there.

June 25, after an exhausting day walking around Ålesund, on the long walk back to the ship we passed this window. Only I knew what it was. When I was in high school, I spent a lot of time in Print Shop where we'd pull lead type out of the big wooden partitioned tray, arrange them in a composing stick building lines of text, mixing fonts when needed, then securing the lines of text on our old printing press using wooden or metal blocks and wedges. Seeing all this in the window brought back fond memories of my high school days, even if only for a moment. (Incidentally, the way the type was stored in the trays (cases) gave rise to the now common terms "uppercase" and "lowercase.")

June 26, not wanting to destroy the anniversary surprise we got yesterday when we got back to our room before bedtime, Mei-O tried to save it by moving it over to our love seat.
