It's done!

A timeline:

The latest blocks are actually scrappy, since I raided a friend's stash.

16 down, 47 to go:

I love purple.

My husband also likes it, so one of the walls in our guest room is bright purple. We've had an ancient, worn-out bedspread that I think I inherited from one of my housemates in college on the bed in there ever since we moved in 3.5 years ago.

I'm a beginner quilter but I think I'm about ready to tackle something queen-sized. So this seemed like the perfect opportunity. The bedroom is in a finished basement which gets very cold, so the plan is actually to make a duvet cover for a very very warm down comforter. As an added bonus I won't have to quilt it, since I like design and I like piecing but I'm not particularly fond of the actual quilting.

Some of these purples are from previous projects but since I'm relatively new at this my stash can't possibly make a scrappy queen-sized quilt. So far I have been to three fabric stores and bought literally everything they had that was about the right red/blue balance (that was really fun). So this is not actually scrappy, but it is definitely purple.

Pattern is Quiltville's Pineapple Blossom.

I don't have a blog, but I recently started reading a lot of quilting blogs, and I want to play too! At least when it's the purple month at the Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

So far: 10 down, at least 53 (plus sashing, border and turning it into a duvet cover) to go (1 omitted to make a better picture):
